From volunteering, to providing supplies, to even shopping at the Re-Store Escondido, there are many ways to support San Diego Habitat for Humanity (SDHFH). SDHFH provides affordable housing for low-income families all over San Diego County. This long-standing organization is led by committed and hardworking staff that work day in and day out to serve low-income families in need.
Since 1988, San Diego Habitat for Humanity has built over 200 homes for over 900 men, women, and children, with the support of nearly 200,000 volunteers as well as corporate and government partners.
Habitat homes, such as the homes under construction on N. Elm St in Escondido, are sold to those earning 30-80% of the median area income. They are sold at no profit and are financed by a 0%-interest 25 to 30-year mortgage. Visit the SDHFH website and click here for ways to support. With generous donations and volunteer support, San Diego Habitat can continue to pass on significant savings and housing opportunities to the community in need.
Join Hands Save a Life (JHSL) reached out to ICON regarding construction materials for their Free Youth Center Gym in Carlsbad. The gym will be a recreational center that provides constructive alternatives for the at-risk low-income teens in our community.
Since its inception, JHSL has served over 250 individuals resulting in over 5,000 youth visits on an annual basis, offering opportunities for young people to make positive life choices and expand their minds, bodies, souls, and overall health. The Youth Center Gym Project is still in need of much support for its completion. Visit the Join Hands Save a Life Facebook page and contact founder Frank Sorino here for updates and more information on how to support.
Operation Home, based in South Carolina, is dedicated to increasing safety and accessibility for low-income residents of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchestor counties. Operation Home aids families that are in need of critical home repairs, particularly households that have children, a person with a disability, or an older adult.
Since it was founded, Operation Home has repaired and provided heating and air conditioning systems to hundreds of homes. ICON has partnered with Greystar in giving to this great cause. Visit the Operation Home website and consider donating to support their mission to help people have safe and accessible homes.
